To reproduce:
- add layer=1 to a way
- select another way (without a layer tag)
- open the dialog again
- type bridge, press tab, enter yes, and you now have ""1yes"" as the value.

If the old entry is 2 or more characters, it is automatically selection in whole when the input field is entered, so that it can easily be overwritten.
This is at least inconsistent.
