There are different ways to solve this:
* add a shortcut (or at least an empty one so the user can assign one himself)
* add an option to make the lasso mode the default selection mode (on 's')
* allow switching selection modes in selection mode (pressing 's' again toggles lasso and rectangular selection mode, see #3910 for a patch doing this)
