56	"""Convert to data layer"" should warn users"	Wollschaf	imi	"Many new users (to OSM and JOSM) assume that it is a good idea to take their 1-sec-GPS-Tracks and diretly convert them into OSM data - perhaps even uploading this too densely spaced data into already mapped areas. They apparently think of nodes as server-side representation of GPS data points.

I think a warning box should be displayed if the feature is used for the first time, warning users that this is not the right way to go (pointing them to the GPX-upload page on openstreetmap.org). As dialog boxes with much text tend to be ignored, the created_by tag could also be modified to indicate the automatic conversion - making it much easier to delete the data again.

The dialog box should appear until a checkbox switches it off (saved in preferences). It should reappear if 1-sec-spaced gps points are converted, or is there any justified direct conversion and upload for such dense tracklogs?

I know that the conversion feature can be very useful, but for many new users it is misleading.

Everybody who had to clean such an area will appreciate any attempt to warn users...
