Click the adjust button for the WMS layer the cursor turns to the little grabby-hand. Adjust the layer. Click the adjust button again to lock. Move back over the editing area, the cursor looks fine, but when you try to select a node or way with a left-click, the cursor turns into the 4-way arrow and the WMS layer still moves with the cursor.

Or did I miss a step in the adjustment procedure? The instructions ...
