I'm never sure about which version (snapshot or latest release) should I download. Now you have written a recommendation and I understand a little bit more, but the regular user shouldn't be aware of the software development process. Just show a link for regular users (Downoad Now) and another one for advanced users that can be reporting bugs (dev version)

The second request is that you put the version numbers visible. I regularly come to download the new JOSM editor version and I never know if I'm updated or not. I have to download and run it to see if I already have the last version.
