I am using JOSM r1081 with the slippymap plugin.
The new (great) feature of a ""not yet downloaded"" grid changed the behaviour of the slippymap plugin slightly.

Previous behaviour:
 1. right mouse click on the map tile
 1. select ""download tile""
 1. the slippymap tile is visible

Current behaviour:
 1. see above
 1. see above
 1. the slippymap tile is _not_ visible

After hiding the (empty) ""data"" layer, I can see the slippymap tile again.

I guess, the previous behaviour is more desireable, since 
 * currently the user gets no feedback for the ""download tile""
 * both the (previous) transparent data layer and the slippymap tiles were usable at the same time
